The MicroBiotec'21 virtual congress, organized by the NOVA University of Lisbon and promoted by the Portuguese Society of Microbiology (SPM) and the Portuguese Society of Biotechnology (SPBT), ended on 26 November.
This was a 4-day event with 476 delegates (half of them students), 8 plenary sessions and 23 keynote presentations, 92 oral presentations and 322 posters (8 poster awards). The Nicolau van Uden Career Prize was awarded to Isabel Sá-Correia (SPM); the Professor Júlio Maggiolly Novais career award was given to Manuel Mota (SPBT).
