The NOVA School of Science and Technology community participated in the first Food Bank campaign, since the restrictions imposed by the pandemic.
During the weekend of 28 and 29 May, our 23 volunteers, including students, teachers, researchers and staff, helped to exceed the 2019 numbers, contributing to the collection of 1695 tonnes of food.
Madalena Dionísio, professor and coordinator of the initiative by NOVA School of Science and Technology, shared several acknowledgments to the community that was involved in this campaign, reflecting that "In this troubled times, 23 volunteers took on the solidarity cause and ensured the success of the campaign of the Food Bank of Setúbal, a region so dramatically affected by this crisis".
The people involved in this solidarity action were Álvaro Fernandes, Ana Alves Pereira, Bernardo Anacleto, Cláudio Fernandes, Duarte Lemos, Gonçalo Neves, Guilherme Caldeira, Inês Farinha, João Brinco, Luiz Felipe Lopes, Luz Fernandes, Margarida Silva, Maria Ascensão Reis, Mariana Fernandes, Mariana Louro, Mariana Silva, Marianne Moraes, Marta Henriques, Marta Pinho, Miguel Anacleto, Miguel Madeira, Miguel Milheiro and Pedro Lamas.
More than 400,000 people will benefit from this collective effort.
