Susan Holmes at the 4th edition of the "NOVA Online Distinguished Lecture Series on Mathematics"

The Department of Mathematics and the Nova Math - Center for Mathematics and Applications at NOVA School of Science and Technology welcome, in the fourth edition of the “NOVA Online Distinguished Lecture Series on Mathematics”, the guest speaker Susan Holmes, professor of statistics at Stanford University.

Known for her work in applying nonparametric multivariate statistics, bootstrapping methods, and data visualization to biology, the professor will present the lecture “The foundations of Data Science based on Registration Geometry” on the 1st of June at 2 pm (BST), from this link.

Throughout her academic career, Susan Holmes taught at MIT, Harvard and Cornell, before moving to Stanford in 1998. She is a Fellow of the Fields Institute and also of the Institute of Mathematical Statistics.

This series of webinars aims to introduce the main researchers in this area, with the presence of prestigious mathematicians from all over the world, promoting inspiration for our students and researchers.
