Fernanda Llussá, professor and researcher at the Department of Applied Social Sciences at NOVA FCT, received the Best Paper Award in the Operations category at the 18th edition of SemeAd, the most prestigious academic management conference in Brazil.

The paper, entitled “Promoting Circular Economy: Drivers and Barriers to Digital Product Passport Adoption in the EU”, co-authored with Albino Colucciello and Letícia Canal Vieira from the University of Bologna, Italy, was ranked among the top three of the conference. The study addresses a highly topical issue in a context marked by environmental challenges and growing pressure to adopt sustainable production systems: the Digital Product Passport (DPP). This instrument aims to increase transparency and circularity throughout the product life cycle, promoting reuse and recycling and helping to reduce environmental impacts.

SemeAd is a benchmark annual event, both nationally and internationally, that promotes discussion of academic and technological output in management through a rigorous evaluation process. In this edition, 2,089 papers were submitted, of which 1,272 were accepted.
