CALL FOR RESEARCH FELLOWSHIP (MsC)

Title: RESEARCH FELLOWSHIP (MsC), one position
It is open a position for a Research Fellowship (MsC) at CENIMAT/I3N in the Faculdade de Ciências e Tecnologia, Universidade Nova de Lisboa, under the scope of scientific research project IMPACT - Integrated Memory Paper using oxide based Channel thin film Transistors, ref. PTDC/CTM/103465/2008, financed by FCT-MCTES, under the following conditions:
Scientific Area: Materials Science and Engineering, Physics.
Admission requirements: Candidates must hold a Master degree in the areas above mentioned, with expertise in thin films deposition/vacuum technology (other areas can be considered only with the required expertise) and knowledge of English language. The activity to be performed involves the development of innovative materials to be used in electronic circuits on paper substrates.
Workplan: Development of conductor and semiconductor oxides to be used in electronic circuits. The work will be based on developments within the group of Electronic and Optoelectronic Materials which is the European leader on Transparent Electronics topic. The main objective is to deposit thin films and characterize them in order to obtain its structure and composition and the relation with the electric performance. In a later stage these materials will be integrated in electronic devices (transistors, memories, oscillators) to be manufactured in low cost substrates such as paper, contributing to the developments in the paper electronics, Paper-E®, a concept patented by CENIMAT/I3N. The challenge of this work is to develop new materials compatible with paper substrates.
Legislation and regulations: Law no. 40/2004, dated August 18th (Status of Scientific Research Fellow); Regulations for Advanced Training and Qualification of Human Resources, 2010.

Workplace: CENIMAT/I3N, Faculdade de Ciências e Tecnologia, Universidade Nova de Lisboa, under the scientific guidance of Full Professor Rodrigo Martins.
Duration: The grant will have an initial duration of six months, renewable to a maximum of 36 months and will begin on February 1st, 2012.
Value: The monthly amount of fellowship will be € 980.00 (nine hundred and eighty euros).
Selection procedure: Selection of candidates will be done in two phases: curriculum review and individual interview to the selected candidates.
Members of evaluation committee: Prof. Rodrigo Ferrão de Paiva Martins (president), Dr. Luis Miguel Nunes Pereira, Prof. Elvira Maria Correia Fortunato (1st substitute) and Prof. Isabel Maria Merces Ferreira (2nd substitute).
Candidates notification: The final evaluation results will be publicized in a public area of CENIMAT/I3N by means of an ordered list based on candidates’ evaluation, and the selected candidate will be notified by email.
Deadline for application submission: The call is open from December 20th 2011 to January 20th 2012.

Applications must be formalized through an application letter with the following attached documents: CV, photocopy of degree certificate and ID card/passport and other documents considered to be relevant. Applications should be submitted as follows: personally at CENIMAT/I3N, during the period from 9am to 6pm, or sent by regular mail to CENIMAT/I3N - Campus da Caparica, Faculdade de Ciências e Tecnologia, Universidade Nova de Lisboa, Quinta da Torre, 2829-516 Caparica, or by email to sec-cenimat@fct.unl.pt and rm@uninova.pt.
