European project A3Ple in the area of paper electronics (CEMOP / UNINOVA and CENIMAT / I3N) wins award for best demonstrator at the prestigious LOPEC 2015

The A3Ple consortium, composed by CEMOP / UNINOVA and CENIMAT / I3N received the award for best demonstrator project financed by public funds, which was assigned by the OE-A (Organic and Printed Electronics - Association) during the prestigious exhibition LOPEC - Large- area, Organic & Printed Electronics Convention 2015 held last week in Munich.

The A3Ple (Autonomous Printed Paper Products for Labels & Electronics) is an European project of the 7th Framework Programme, which aims the development of electronic devices using printing techniques, where the substrate is paper. The project coordinator is the Centre Technique du Papier (CTP) of France, and the CEMOP / UNINOVA and CENIMAT / I3N (under the direction of Professors Rodrigo Martins, Elvira Fortunato and Luis Pereira) responsible for the transistors development and printed electrochromic displays used in samplers, which can detect the presence of a gas and alert through a warning message on the display.

The Association granting the prize (OE-A) is responsible for organizing the LOPEC, which is one of the leading exhibitions and conferences worldwide in the area of organic and printed electronics. In LOPEC are presented the latest trends at market level, but also scientific advances in this area, being the perfect place to generate new partnerships and business.
