The "EXPO FCT" 2015

09-04-2015

More than 4,000 students coming from Secondary Schools from around the country visited on 8 April the 9th edition of "EXPO FCT", an open day that aims to show FCT’s scientific dynamics through the activities shown by the Faculty’s 14 Departments and by FCT’s Library. In a didactic and entertaining way they showed: how cotton that does not burn, can help to fight fire, to see a water drone moving, or to know what propolis is and what it does, how to draw their school in 3D, how to break stone in order to determine the strength of a rock, how to find out if a painting is false and to plan the Future City, ways to control road traffic, the operation and explanation of a wind tunnel, trains flying through the air, how to program a robot, the ABC of espionage, molecular gastronomy, what has FCT’s  Library to offer more that these students could once imagine. Only to mention some of the may activities presented during the whole day.

"We are studying in the science area and our school does this visit every year. We wanted to come to explore what is done in FCT.", said André Ramos and Beatriz Duarte, students from Setúbal’s Secondary School Lima de Freitas.
