Professors and Former Students of DEMI Win Bronze Medal in Hong Kong

The project team consisted of Professors and DEMI alumni won a bronze medal at The 5th Global Competition on Systematic Innovation (GCSI) held in July 2015 in Hong Kong.

The "TRIZ and Lean in an Industry of Air Handling and Ventilation" was developed under the collaboration between DEMI and the Sandometal-Metalomecânica e Ar Condicionado S.A. company, headquartered in Alverca do Ribatejo.

The project was based on the internship carried in Sandometal company and Master's Thesis of Inês Pombo, a recent graduate of the MSc in Industrial Engineering and Management at DEMI, FCT-NOVA. After the curricular internship and the completion of the Master, Inês Pombo was invited to work in Sandometal company.

The team of the winning project included Inês Pombo (NSc), Rui Santos (MSc, also an alumnus of DEMI, currently Technical Director of Sandometal), Prof. Helena Navas (Professor of DEMI and researcher at UNIDEMI) and Prof. Virgílio Cruz Machado (President of DEMI and Coordinator of UNIDEMI).
