First participatory workshop on marine litter coordinated by FCT NOVA Researcher

14-03-2019

The first participatory workshop with stakeholders in Spain, under the project "OceanWise - Reducing EPS marine litter in the North East Atlantic", of which FCT NOVA - MARE NOVA are partners is taking place in Vigo (Spain) on March 14th.

OceanWise is an Interreg project that deals with marine litter from the perspective of circular economy, focusing exclusively on products composed of Expanded and Extruded Polystyrene (EPS / XPS), commonly referred to as Styrofoam.

This project aims to respond broadly to this problem, by joining a multi-sectoral platform that includes governmental entities responsible for the management of the marine environment, industry and other stakeholders. In this sense, a cycle of participatory workshops is taking place in the various partner countries of the project. The methodology and coordination of this event is carried out by Professor Lia Vasconcelos with the help of MARE NOVA Flávia Silva, Ricardo Resende, Filipa Ferreira, Renato Monteiro and Cláudio Duarte.

This project is co-financed by the Interreg Atlantic Area Program through the European Regional Development Fund.
