Iconic Women Creating a Better World for ALL

Graça Martinho, Lia Vasconcelos and Paula Sobral, three professors from the Department of Environmental Sciences and Engineering and the MARE research center, were distinguished with the "Iconic Women Creating a Better World for ALL" Award.

This award recognizes the extensive research and ongoing environmental activism of teachers in favor of sustainable development. Graça Martinho has developed strong activity in the areas of waste management and alteration of attitudes and behaviors. Paula Sobral has been prolific in the fight against marine litter and microplastics. Lia Vasconcelos has been active in collaborative governance, social sustainability and ocean literacy.

The conference "International Women Economic Forum" (WEF) is the global networking arm of the "ALL Ladies League" (ALL).
