Encontro Ciência 2021

Ciência 2021, the biggest annual meeting of scientists in Portugal is back at the Lisbon Congress Centre. Between June 28 and 30, debates, thematic and plenary sessions, communications and demonstrations will reflect the state of science, technology, and innovation in the country.

The event's theme, “Science that makes Tomorrow and transforms the Economy”, sets the tone for the key themes, challenges and opportunities of science in 2021 that are being done in Portugal and in Europe. From the future of employment to space exploration and the climate transition, several topics will be addressed to stimulate interaction and dialogue among all participants.

This year, the invited country is France, which will actively participate in the program, highlighting the exchange and strong scientific cooperation existing between the two countries.

This forum aims to enhance the involvement of researchers, entrepreneurs, students and the public, to promote the discussion of ideas and prepare, in a collective effort, the future of Science and Technology, both in Portugal and in Europe.

Science 2021 is promoted by the Foundation for Science and Technology in collaboration with Ciência Viva and the Parliamentary Commission for Education, Science, Youth and Sport, with the institutional support of the Ministry of Science, Technology and Higher Education.

This year, Ciência 2021 is curated by David Braga Malta, founder of LiMM, Cell2B and BoostPharma; Marta Oliveira, launch security specialist in the European Spaceport with Vitrociset; and Paula M. Alves, CEO of iBET and Professor at Universidade NOVA de Lisboa (ITQB and NOVA School of Science and Technology | FCT NOVA).
