Applications are open for L’Oréal Portugal Medals of Honor for Women in Science 2022

The Foundation for Science and Technology announced that applications for the 19th edition of the L’Oréal Portugal Medals of Honor for Women in Science 2022 are now open. Applications can be submitted until September 16, 2022.

The award aims to distinguish advanced scientific research studies, at the post-doctoral level, carried out in universities or other Portuguese institutions of recognized merit, in the field of Sciences, Engineering and Technologies for Health or the Environment.

In each edition, the Medals of Honor L’Oréal Portugal are awarded to four winning candidates and the prize has a unit value of 15 thousand euros. The evaluation is carried out by a jury constituted for this purpose, formed by scientists of recognized merit in the field of the areas of the competition.

All PhD candidates who have obtained their PhD degree less than five years before the opening date of the competition and who do not reach 35 years of age, by the end of the current year, can apply for this award.

The L'Oréal Portugal Medals of Honor Program for Women in Science is an initiative of L'Oréal Portugal and is developed in partnership with the UNESCO National Commission and the Foundation for Science and Technology (FCT).

The NOVA School of Science and Technology already has six researchers distinguished with this award, the most recent being Liliana Tomé, Researcher at LAQV-REQUIMTE – Associated Laboratory for Green Chemistry, which won this recognition in 2021.
