Frontier Materials Awards 2022, one of the most prestigious awards under the International Union of Materials Research Societies (IUMRS), distinguished Elvira Fortunato, former professor at the Department of Material Science, and Emanuel Carlos in its first edition.
This award aimed to recognise the contributions with great impact on frontier research in the area of materials, also included five Chinese scientists, one Japanese and one Indian.
Emanuel Carlos, PhD student of the Department of Material Science at NOVA, was also one of the winners in the Graduate Students Award category for his research on solutions for electronic devices based on metallic oxides. He was the sole Portuguese to receive the award.
