09-06-2022

On May 26th, Sara Subtil, alumna of NOVA School of Science and Technology, won the Best Woman Consultant category award at the European Awards for Women in Construction and Engineering (WICE).

Sara Subtil, currently Head of Asset Management at Arcadis in the United Kingdom, was distinguished among 350 candidates and her work was acclaimed in the area of management and maintenance of bridges and structures recognised at European level.

“We do not live in the world that our grandmothers lived, where career choice was not an option. Yet quite a lot of women do not get this far. I would advise any company in our sector to encourage and support nominations for other women. It is the best way to distinguish the contribution that female employers have made to your organizations whilst promoting women widely across our sector”, shared the alumna with a master in Civil Engineering.

These awards highlight women in construction and engineering across Europe, recognising achievements and creating role models, making these industries more attractive for women to choose these careers and fostering a culture of gender equality within companies.
