CENIMAT|i3N team wins the Alfredo da Silva Research Award

The project "Empowerment in Diabetic Foot Ulcer", is the winner of the 2nd edition of the Research Award Alfredo da Silva Sustainability in Health promoted by the Amélia de Mello Foundation with the scientific curatorship of NOVA University Lisbon.

Developed by the research centre of NOVA School of Science and Technology CENIMAT|i3N, in partnership with the Portuguese Protective Association of Diabetics (APDP), NOVA Medical School and CUF Hospital, its main objective is to create a kit that allows easy monitoring of diabetic foot ulcers, using temperature and wound size sensors embedded in sustainable bandages, as well as sensors for infection monitoring.

The FCT NOVA team includes Rui Igreja, Carolina Marques, João Coelho and Tomás Pinheiro.

This is the second edition of the endowment, which awards grants worth 25,000 euros to distinguish and support the development of advanced scientific research projects in three areas: Employability; Technological Innovation, Mobility and Industry; and Sustainability of Health Systems.
