Between the 11th and 15th of July, two high school students came to discover Life Sciences in the campus of NOVA School of Science and Technology.
The internship, promoted by the Department of Life Sciences, gave the opportunity to perform several experiments in the Faculty's laboratories. The students learned how to handle microorganism and human cell cultures, to analyse human samples in a physiological and disease context such as infection and cancer and to work with analysis techniques normally used in routine work in a Microbiology, Molecular Biology and Genetics laboratory, among other things.
Paula Alexandra Quintela Videira, Pedro Costa, Alexandra Fernandes, Jaime Mota, Claudia Carvalho and José Paulo were responsible for the scientific initiation initiative.
This is one of the 30 activities included in the participation of FCT NOVA in the program Ciência Viva no Laboratório 2022. This year we welcomed 126 students who came to learn more about science and engineering at the Caparica Campus. With these proposals FCT NOVA fulfils its mission of disseminating STEAM careers.
