NOVA School of Science and Technology leads project that will assess the socio-economic impact of Cultural Tourism in Europe

The IMPACTOUR project, coordinated by researchers from the Center for Technology and Systems / UNINOVA of NOVA School of Science and Technology, had its initial meeting on the Caparica campus on 28 and 29 January.

The project aimas at helping develop a sustainable ecosystem, involving the main actors associated with Cultural Tourism, creating an innovative and easy-to-use methodology and tool to assess the impact of Cultural Tourism on Europe's economic and social development.

The IMPACTOUR methodology will be completed and tested with data from fourteen pilot zones and the IMPACTOUR tool will be validated in five other pilot zones, with different characteristics, in different European locations.

The project has twelve partners, from nine Member States of the European Union, and a financing of 2,971,250 € from the EU's Horizon 2020 Research and Innovation Program.
