18-06-2021

On June 25th, NOVA School of Science and Technology | FCT NOVA welcomes Helena Vieira, Director General of the Directorate-General for Maritime Policy, that will present the National Strategy for the Sea 2021-2030 (ENM 2021-2030), within the scope of the EMPORIA4KT project.

The session, which will take place via zoom and starting at 11:30 am, is open to the entire NOVA community and intends to raise awareness to the ENM 2021-2030, an instrument that sets the course for the Portuguese public policy of the sea in the next decade. Based on the importance of scientific knowledge, on the protection of the Ocean, on the valorization of marine ecosystem services and on the recognition of their role as vectors of sustainable development and, in parallel, on the strength of traditional and emerging sectors of the blue economy, aligned with international policies, the ENM 2021-2030 becomes fundamental to guide future R&D+I activities.

The meeting is part of the second session “Train & Act - Blue Economy Technology Transfer Programme”, promoted by the project Interreg Atlântico EMPORIA4KT, coordinated by NOVA School of Science and Technology | FCT NOVA. This project aims to train researchers to transfer knowledge in the Blue Economy sector and hence crucial that technology transfer routes to the market are aligned with national and international public policies in this sector.

EMPORIA4KT is a project of the European Regional Development Fund (ERDF) of the Interreg Atlantic Area of the European Union, coordinated by FCT NOVA, through the Department of Mechanical and Industrial Engineering and the Department of Environmental Science and Engineering, consisting of 15 partners out of 5 European countries in the Atlantic Area. The project is working to establish links between academia, business and government, with the aim of promoting innovation and competitiveness in the Blue Economy in the Atlantic Area.
