Ciência Viva: 14 students discovered the wonders of Earth Science

25-07-2022

With only two internships, the Department of Earth Sciences and Geobiotec welcomed 14 high school students who came to NOVA School of Science and Technology to discover the applications of the study of Earth Sciences.

The internships, promoted in the scope of the Ciência Viva no Laboratório program, provided the students the opportunity to follow a land survey with maps, learn how to perform laboratory tests, or make ceramics using eggshells and coffee grounds.

The students were welcomed and accompanied by Carlos Galhano, José António, Joaquim Simão, Nuno Leal, Lígia Castro, Pedro Lamas, Paulo Legoinha, Ana Paula Silva and Eduarda Ferreira.

This was one of the 30 internships that FCT NOVA promoted this year in partnership with Ciência Viva. 126 students were in the several laboratories of the School in contact with researchers and university students to know the potentialities of science and engineering.

The partnership with this programme is already 25 years old and has created space to show the younger students paths for their academic and professional future.
