Summer activities: Physics for beginners and beyond

28-07-2022

The Department of Physics organised three summer schools that took place at the Caparica campus during the month of July. These initiatives promoted contact with this area of knowledge to more than 50 students.

The "Summer School with Biomedical Engineering" and the "Quantum Academy" provided high school students with an approach to physics through activities that encouraged the application of knowledge.

The "High Performance Computing in Astrophysics and Atomic Physics Summer School", in collaboration with the LIBPhys centre, has been exclusively designed for university students. Over three days, the tutees were assisted in developing advanced computing skills (high-performance computing, quantum computing, high-performance data analytics, artificial intelligence, data visualization, etc) related to specific problems in atomic physics and astrophysics.
