According to the University Entrepreneurship Ranking, NOVA University of Lisbon is the Portuguese higher education institution with the more students launching their own businesses. NOVA leads the list with 268 entrepreneurial alumni.
This survey identified 1,509 alumni from 47 higher education institutions founding startups in Portugal. According to the same data, there are 2000 startups in activity in the country.
The ranking, created by Startup Portugal and recently released, aims to promote, highlight and reward the institutions that foster entrepreneurship in their field.
Innovation and entrepreneurship are part of NOVA's culture, being widely promoted within the ecosystem of the University as a way to promote the transfer of knowledge and transform the results of research into social and economic value.
