Workshops em Digital Media no âmbito do protocolo UT Austin - Portugal

05-06-2007

Animation Workshop
Data: 2 a 7 de Julho de 2007. Apresentação dos projectos realizados a 11 de Julho.
Local: Instalações da Faculdade de Ciências e Tecnologia, Universidade Nova de Lisboa.
Formador: Geoff Marslett (MFA, Department of Radio, Television and Film, University of Texas at Austin)
Programa:
This one week course will be an intensive, hands on class focused on the development of animated content. It will consist of three components:
1. Basic operation of animation software.
2. Basic skills necessary to make functional animation.
3. Basic storytelling techniques using animation.
Using Adobe Flash as the initial platform, students will become comfortable with the interface and mechanics of animation software. They will then use this software to gain an introductory knowledge of animation foundations including loops, walk cycles, 2D representation of 3D space, lip sync, rotoscoping, and morphs. While working on these skill based exercises, students also explore the effective use of animation in storytelling. While this course will be primarily a hands on production workshop, it will incorporate a few screenings of short animated work and a discussion of what makes certain animation appealing and engaging.
Inscrição: Gratuita, limitada a 15 participantes.

Interactive Documentary Workshop
Data: 2 a 7 de Julho de 2007.
Local: Instalações da Universidade do Porto.
Formador: Karen Kocher (MFA, Department of Radio, Television and Film, University of Texas at Austin)
Programa:
In this class, students will produce an interactive documentary using the City of Oporto and, in particular, the museum of Serralves as the focus. Students will videotape, edit and package a series of short video portraits that capture the essence of the City. Along the way students will discuss the tradition of the "city symphony" film, and how new interactive technologies like DVD Studio Pro and the web can take documentary storytelling to a new level.

Pré-requisitos:
Comfortable working with DV cameras and on computers. The class will likely use Final Cut Pro/Adobe Premiere, Adobe Photoshop and DVD Studio Pro. Instruction in the use of these technologies will be provided, but it will be most helpful if you are computer literate and feel comfortable learning new software in a fast-paced environment.
Inscrição: Gratuita, limitada a 15 participantes.
