CMU/UNL Dual Degree PhD Program in Computer Science

The Department of Informatics at FCT/Universidade Nova de Lisboa welcomes applications of strong candidates for the CMU/UNL Dual Degree PhD Program in Computer Science

The Department of Informatics at FCT/Universidade Nova de Lisboa
welcomes applications of strong candidates interested in pursuing a
PhD in Computer Science in the context of a research / educational
initiative recently launched by the Portuguese Foundation for Science
and Technology and the Carnegie-Mellon University.
The Dual Degree PhD Program in Computer Science offers an attractive
distributed structure, involving co-supervision arrangements involving
CMU/CSD and DI/FCT/UNL faculty, and allowing the student to split its
time between CMU (USA) and UNL (Portugal). Upon successful completion
of the program, the student will be granted both a CMU CS PhD Degree
and a UNL Informatics PhD Degree.
Admissions will depend on the establishment at an early stage of
co-advising arrangements which identify thesis subjects in the context
of ongoing research projects.
The DI/FCT/UNL pole of the Dual Degree Program in Computer Science
welcomes outstanding students interested in pursuing research in the
main scientific areas of its research units.
The scholarships available will cover the tuition and expenses of
students in the program, regardless of their nationality.
