Faculdade de Ciências e Tecnologia/ Universidade Nova de Lisboa accepts applications for one position of Assistant Researcher, in the framework of the MIT Portugal Program.

Job summary
The job will include tasks in:
(1) research on a topic of choice of the candidate;
(2) educational and administrative management of the MIT Portugal doctoral programme on Bioengineering Systems.

Job description
The successful candidate will assist the Coordination of the MIT Portugal doctoral Programme in Bioengineering Systems in all educational and administrative tasks related to this international programme. This includes specific tasks concerning the implementation of the joint doctoral degree programme, as well as the assessment and evaluation of the educational courses, in order to improve the quality standards.
Other tasks are related to fostering, coordinating and improving of the pedagogical, institutional and scientific networks established by the MIT-Portugal Program’s institutions, faculty and affiliates.
Simultaneously, he/she will develop his/her research proposal in an topic within the defined research fields of this call, preferably interfacing with industry.
The salary will be in the range 3.100 Euros/month × 14 months/year. The appointment is based on a one-year contract, renewable until 5 years or the end of the MIT Portugal Program contract with FCT UNL, whichever comes first.

Qualifications and experience
The candidates must hold a PhD completed more than three years ago.
They must have:
(1) a good track record of publications and ability to pursue a research career, preferably in interface with industry;
(2) a well developed experience in assessment of educational programmes and management of doctoral courses, preferably in the framework of international collaborations.

Evaluation of applications
The applications will be evaluated by a panel composed by:

Prof. Manuel Gomes Mota (U. Minho)
Prof. Manuel Nunes da Ponte (FCT/UNL)

The evaluation will mark the applications on a 0 to 100 scale, based on the following criteria:
(1) Track-record of scientific publications in the above-defined research fields: max. 25 points
(2) Research project, its quality, its feasibility in the framework of the host institution and its potential links to industry: max 25 points.
(3) Experience in the management of post-graduate activities in the framework of international collaborations: max 25 points
(4) Experience and qualifications for teaching and assessment of educational programmes: max 25 points.
