A Unidade de Investigação “Vidro e Cerâmica para as Artes” tem o prazer de o convidar para a palestra do artista Cesare Toffolo, “A work is a thought of the artist”, que terá lugar no Auditório da Biblioteca da FCT-UNL, Campus de Caparica no próximo dia 26 de Janeiro de 2011, pelas 14h30.

“A work is a thought of the artist”
I don't create my works for others, but for myself. My works are the mirror of my soul, of how I am, of the environment in which I live, that which I breathe and have breathed in this life. They are my dreams and my nightmares.
My works are instinctive expressions of thoughts which crowd my mind, I don't seek out a subject or an idea to create, rather they join me on their own. In my glass, there is Venice and the Renaissance, but also the modern man who lives with history.
Walking in the city, you can feel the fascination of the past which harmonizes with the present, a point of union which is reflected in my works.
I don't love explaining my works because it's possible to read them like an open book.
A new creation is a union of many things; the principal is surely an idea, a strong sensation which arrives spontaneously, which focuses my thoughts. It's a natural process, it's a new birth which is part of me.
