David Martlew
Graduated in chemistry in 1965 at the University of Manchester. Following his interest in silicate chemistry he was employed in 1966 by Pilkington Brothers Limited in the Central Analytical Laboratories
at Eccleston Grange. He got is degree in Doctor of Philosophy in 1980 at Sheffield University. David Martlew is a glass technologist who after over forty years working in the flat glass industry is now
retired and therefore free to pursue interests in the area of the history and heritage of glass and glassmaking. He was president of the Society Glass Technology and for some years David Martlew has been
organising seminars on the History & Heritage of Glass at the Annual Conferences of the Society of Glass Technology, beginning with the International Congress on Glass of 2001 in Edinburgh.
