Programa

The Bachelor’s Degree in Environmental Engineering curriculum combines fundamental disciplines such as mathematics, physics, chemistry, biology, and ecology with technological tools and data analysis, preparing professionals capable of assessing, modelling, and intervening in complex environmental systems.

Saídas Profissionais

  • Natural Resources Management – Planning, design and operation of drinking water supply and treatment systems, wastewater drainage and treatment, river basin management, and advanced ecosystem protection.
  • Waste Reduction and Management – Solutions for reducing waste generation, urban cleaning systems and planning, waste collection logistics, as well as recycling and waste recovery systems and projects.
  • Sustainability in Business – Environmental assessment of products, industrial auditing, reduction of resource consumption (energy and water) and raw materials, and implementation of circular economy models.
  • Energy and Climate – Research and innovation in energy efficiency, renewable energy, climate modelling, and strategies for mitigating and adapting to climate change.
  • Cities and Territory – Projects in sustainable mobility, natural risk management, and integrated urban planning.
  • Environmental Economics – Cost-benefit analysis of projects, valuation of ecosystem services, development of incentives and green taxation, and support for public and business decision-making.
  • Technologies and Data – Environmental monitoring, advanced modelling and simulation, Geographic Information Systems (GIS), and the application of Artificial Intelligence to environmental challenges.

Sobre o Department of Environmental Sciences and Engineering

The Department of Environmental Sciences and Engineering (DCEA), established in 1976, was a pioneer in the teaching of Environmental Engineering. It integrates fundamental skills from various scientific fields with new environmental and digital technologies, embracing interdisciplinarity and sustainability as core pillars.
