International Conference on Solar Energy Architecture 2012

The Organizing Committee is pleased to invite you to the upcoming International Conference on Solar Energy Architecture 2012 to be hosted on the university campus of the Faculdade de Ciências e Tecnologia, Universidade Nova de Lisboa in Caparica, Portugal on the 30th of March.
The building sector must become constantly more efficient in its energy use, it must reduce the energy consumed throughout the construction cycle (fabrication, transport, building, demolition. This drive to reduce energy needs is of the upmost importance because the building sector has become one of its biggest consumers.
It is understood that solar energy can be used as an important component during the buildings life cycle to reduce its energy needs. But the capacity and efficiency of the solar systems fitted into buildings is dependent on the quality of the architecture, particularly during the building’s design phase.
Thus, the quality of the architecture depends on various factors, such as: the education and skills of the design team, the tools available to them and the team’s interaction with all the stakeholders in the project (clients, manufacturers, engineers, etc.).
In this century, the challenge of building sustainable communities has come to the forefront of the political agenda, this theme is therefore on the public agenda as it pertains to the overall quality of life of the population.
This conference seeks to enhance, develop and promote, research, innovation and discussion on this, most important, theme.
