The PhD in Education is the result of a partnership between NOVA University Lisbon (FCT and FCSH) and ISPA, training qualified researchers and professionals since 2009/2010.
With a duration of three years (180 ECTS), it combines advanced training and original research.
In the first year, doctoral students develop skills in educational sciences and research methodologies, obtaining the Diploma of Advanced Studies in Education.
In the following two years, they conduct supervised research within research centers, culminating in a doctoral thesis and the production of innovative knowledge in the field of Education.

The curriculum combines reflection, innovation, and practice to train the education leaders of the future.
Applicants must submit their application through the Clip platform with the following documents:
Academic degree certificate (Master’s or equivalent academic degree);
Academic, scientific, and/or professional CV;
Supporting documents referenced in the CV;
Motivation letter;
One letter of recommendation;
A text of up to 5 pages describing the research topics the applicant is interested in exploring, as well as the personal and professional contexts that justify the choice of these topics;
Interview.
All applicants must be fluent in Portuguese and English (reading and oral comprehension), and proficient in using the Internet and personal computers.
The Doctoral Program in Education is open to applications from:
Holders of a Master’s degree or legal equivalent, including teachers and educators at all levels of education, education and training professionals, social and community workers, and professionals in the health sector;
Holders of a Bachelor’s degree with an especially relevant academic or scientific curriculum, recognized by the Scientific Council as demonstrating the ability to undertake this cycle of studies;
Individuals with an academic, scientific, or professional curriculum recognized by the Scientific Council as demonstrating the ability to undertake this cycle of studies.
